Area Activities

Florida's east coast is rich with things to do! You can stay as busy as you want with a diverse list of activities. Below is a very short list of facilites that offer year-round activities. For detailed local events, check the Association's calendar.

Take an easy walk through the Wakodahatchee Wetlands to see hundreds of bird species, turtles, alligators, rabbits, fish, frogs and raccoons along a 3/4 mile boardwalk.  Visit their website for full details.

The Arts Garage is a performing arts center in downtown Delray Beach. They present a wide variety of shows in a cabaret setting, and you can bring your own drink and dinner. Check out their calendar to see what's playing this week.

Discover a destination that transcends time, Morikami. Experience a window into Japan through sprawling historic gardens, a world-class bonsai display, captivating exhibitions, signature cuisine and a distinctive Museum Store. The Cornell Art Museum displays artwork that exciting and fun, hoping to inspire your imagination. It is located in the restored 1913 Delray Elementary School building on the 'Old School Square Campus,' which is on Atlantic Avenue. So why not start your day on the western end of the 'AVE' and walk back towards the ocean visiting all of the unique boutique shoppes and exciting restaurants?

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at FAU is dedicated to offering intellectually enriching educational experiences to adults of all ages. Courses are taught by FAU professors and distinguished guest lecturers. Course offerings include such varied subjects as foreign policy, music, art, history, science, literature, philosophy, current events, and films. Single performances and multi-week series are presented year-round!

Gumbo Limbo is a 20 acre park dedicated to environmental education, research, and conservation of many Florida plants and animals. Probably best known for their work with turtles, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a coastal and marine experience unlike any other!

If you are looking for some shopping and great dining, Downtown Boca and Mizner Park will captivate you with its beautiful architecture, great public spaces, diverse attractions and lush landscaping. This area features nearly 100 restaurants, 2 major shopping plazas with old-world charm, great recreation, year-round events, an art museum, amphitheater and more!

Daggerwing Nature Center is set within the beautiful Burt Aaronson Park. It features a 3,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall with live animals and interactive state-of-the-art exhibits, laboratory, art gallery, butterfly garden, and an elevated boardwalk with two trails, as well as an observation tower. Throughout the park you will see abundant plant and animal life including: osprey, woodpeckers, butterflies, turtles, alligators, and a wide variety of bromeliads.
